Calling All Grinders
Feb

First off, I want to thank those of you who have shared your opinions with me about the future of this blog. I honestly want to make this blog the best resource possible, which is the reason I wrote my post asking for feedback.
I’ve received a number of comments and emails with suggestions on how to improve upon the reader experience and offer more value, and it seems that publishing guest posts is a very popular idea.
There was however, a mixed reaction on whether I should include posts from those who have successfully gotten themselves out of the grind or those who are still stuck in the grind.
I actually think both ideas will be insightful and have decided to publish both. I feel that the individuals who have managed to break free from a miserable job can share their stories with others and offer tips and suggestions about how they did it.
For those of us who are still in our jobs and desperately trying to get out, having others who are experiencing the same things that we are may be beneficial as well.
I’ m Calling You Out
I am planning on having two separate categories for guest submissions; Fellow Grinders and Former Grinders.
This is what that means to you:
- A Fellow Grinder is someone still working a job they hate. Sure, millions of people hate their jobs, but I want to hear from you IF you are taking action right now on changing that. If your goal is to find passion, happiness, and purpose in life and you are committed to making that happen, I want to hear how. This should be what your post focuses on.
- A Former Grinder is someone who has already quit their miserable job and is living their passion. Millions of people quit their jobs each year just to replace it with another one they don’t like. Anyone can do that and it’s not inspiring. I want to hear from those who left the grind to find meaningful work. Share your story about how you quit your job and how you are living your passion now. This should be what your post focuses on.
If you fall into one of the above categories, I would love to hear your story. What I am not interested in right now are regular articles. I would like your posts to have feeling and emotion. They should be able to reach people on a deeper level than a “10 Ways To Quit Your Job” type of post.
I want to hear your personal story of the daily struggle you go through each day or how you were able to beat the grind, started living your passion, and began enjoying your life.
What’s In It For You?
Nothing, this is all about me, me, me!!!
Actually, there are several benefits for those who choose to share their stories:
- An opportunity to inspire others who desperately need it
- A chance to connect with others who feel trapped in a miserable job and/or life
- A backlink from my blog. It might not carry much weight NOW, but someday it will be full of supercharged link juice! Bet on it!
- A chance to display your writing to another audience, who then may become your own. I won’t say that I have a ton of traffic, but I have had more than 5,000 visitors in the last 30 days.
- A new friend, resource, and contact in me! The blogosphere is built on networking and this is a great way to do it.
My Guidelines
Here is what I would prefer in your guest submission:
- Please make it a true account of your journey out of the cube or about life in your cube. I WILL call your job to find out if you’re lying! 🙂
- I really would like these stories to mean something to people, so please don’t write something just to write it. Speak from the heart, this is all about helping others
- Either use MS Word or .txt format. Doesn’t matter to me
- Aim for 500-800 words. I’m open to shorter or longer if it really works
- Original content that will not be published elsewhere
- I will handle the images, you focus on the content
- No affiliate links please
- Please engage with the folks who leave you comments
- I tend to be a little OCD, so I will probably edit your post a little…
I am sincerely hoping that this will be beneficial to you and welcome any suggestions on how to make this even better.
If you are interested in sharing your story with my readers, please email me at steve [at] endingthegrind [dot] com or find me on Twitter at @EndGrind.

I don’t fit into either of your categories even though I do think I work pretty damn hard! But its great that you’ve decided to ask your readers to do this! Hopefully it’ll help them like writing your blog helps you!

Harriet,
I’m sure you do work hard!
I am also hoping this serves my readers well.
