Farnoosh Brock from ProlificLiving.com has been on my radar for some time now. If you aren’t familiar with her, she is one of the most sincere and sweet people I’ve met online. Not only that, but she kicks some serious blogging ass!
She has had incredible success online and recently presented at Blog World East. I knew my readers/listeners (and me) could learn a ton from her which is one of the main reasons I wanted to interview her.
ProlificLiving.com is interesting in that she doesn’t focus on a specific niche, but rather it’s about creating smart habits for rich living. She is very clearly passionate about what she teaches and has seen a great deal of success with her online business.
I was first introduced to her on Twitter and have been a follower of hers for some time now. Let me tell you, she is one active tweeter!!
The good news is that she is very engaged with her network and is constantly trying to provide value in her tweets. You can follow her here if you would like to see what I’m talking about!
One of the things I noticed in our conversation was her focus on trying to help me create the best interview I could. She seemed to genuinely care about what I’m doing on Ending The Grind. She also has great energy, enthusiasm, and is very positive. Someone you definitely want to be around.
She had a lot of great information to share and some of the points that really resonated with me were:
- Why we need to know our risk tolerance before quitting our job
- The importance of timing in an online business
- Why we need to begin pursuing our passions today
- The importance of having a plan
- The drawbacks of waiting to pursue our passions
Farnoosh also has several free eBooks including an excellent one entitled “Empower Your Writing”. If you’re a blogger, then you should be constantly striving to improve upon your writing skills. Farnoosh is an expert in this subject and this manifesto will help you!
Thanks again to Farnoosh and I hope you enjoy the Podcast!

I think most people underestimate their risk tolerance. When deciding on something like quitting a job, you need to think, “what’s the worst that can happen?”
If you’re willing to live with the worst case scenario (losing a house or bankruptcy) then go for it! If you’re unwilling to live with those consequences, then don’t!
Steve
Yes, just like Tim Ferriss says in his book, once you define your worst case scenario, it’s usually not all that bad.
I actually did this exercise and my worst case was not nearly as bad as I thought. I still haven’t quit though…
Farnoosh
Dear Steve, in listening to this, I must say you are GREAT interviewer. I have been interviewed so many times and you are very good. Keep it up. I am so sorry that my audio broke up a few seconds. I wonder what I said then ;)! Anyway, thanks SO much again!
Steve
Thanks so much Farnoosh, I really appreciate that!
It was my pleasure and I’m so glad you gave me the opportunity for the interview.
I was really impressed with your great energy and positive outlook. That’s something that many of us struggle with when we are battling our miserable jobs.
Emily
Hi Steve,
Thank you for doing this interview of Farnoosh and Prolific Living. I stumbled upon her blog and like you am impressed with her passion for life and the way that she openly communicates in her blog. With your insightful questions you were able to cover a lot of material in a short period of time.
The part that has stuck with me the most is the importance of discussing the life changes with your life partner as this is the person who matters the most. It is not about what your family or friends or society thinks but it is about the life the two of you are creating and what works for you.
I downloaded the interview so I could listen to it again later for more integration. I am in the process of transitioning to something that I love so I will sign up for your blog to help with the inspiration. It is always so validating to keep finding more and more people out there who are doing the same thing!
Steve
Hi Emily,
I’m glad you found her blog, she is an incredible woman and entrepreneur! Having a spouse on the same page or at least understands what you are trying to do is critical. It’s hard enough to leave behind a “secure” job, but when you don’t have the support of your spouse, it becomes 10X harder.
Thanks for reading and I’d love to hear about what you are transition into…
