The Most Important Thing
Nov

When I decided to start this blog, it wasn’t because I wanted to get rich, become an Internet celebrity, or to be a “make money online” guru. I’m doing this so I can be with my daughters whenever I choose because that’s what I want to do more than anything else!
The day will come when they’re more interested in their friends than Dad, and that’s part of growing up. I get that. There’s probably nothing I can do to change that time in their lives, but what I can do is spend as much time as I possibly can with them right now.
There is absolutely nothing that can replace the feeling of holding your child when they’re hurt, or when they come running up to you and give you a huge hug, or when they’re sick and you’re there to make them feel better, or being with them when they’re 6 weeks premature and breathing with the help of tubes and wires…..
We want to be able to be there for them whenever they need us, but we can’t. We can’t because we have to work. Our jobs need us for 40+ hours every week. I say why not bust your ass building a business and create freedom for yourself!
We’re going to bust our asses at work anyway, why not build something for yourself. For me, it’s not an option to spend the next 28 years (when I’m eligible for a possible non existent Social Security system) working a job.
By the time I will have retired, I will have missed some of the most important things in my daughters lives. NOW is the time to be with them, not when they’re married with kids of their own.
I’ve met so many people who are perfectly content working 8-10 hours a day and seeing their kids only on the weekends. They say it’s just temporary and someday soon they will be able to spend more time with them, but it never happens.
Work never gets easier, your days don’t get shorter, it’s the opposite. We get a raise and we are expected to work more. We take a new job with a big pay raise and our commute increases by an hour. The point is, we will never have the time we want with our children if we don’t make it a priority!
I ask you to take a few minutes and really think about your time with your children. If you need something to put your choices in perspective, visit this site. You’ll quickly realize that you’re taking your precious time with your children for granted.
For me, my choices are clear: Create a passive income by building a successful business or work the grind until I’m dead. Hopefully you can figure out which one I am choosing…
However, I certainly haven’t chosen the fastest path to online income with blogging, but I love doing it. I am extremely passionate about living a better quality of life, which my job is currently holding me back from. And I know there are plenty of others who feel the same way as I do.
With that in mind, my goal is not to get rich doing this. Rather, just earning enough money so I don’t have to worry about money and having complete freedom of my time is what it’s all about for me.
